RESPONSIBILITIES
Employees in this department are responsible for maintaining Borough Streets, storm sewer systems, public buildings, and public spaces. Staff members are cross trained to support daily operational and testing requirements at both the wastewater treatment plant and the water treatment plant.
KEY DUTIES INCLUDE:
• Repairing and filling potholes.
• Cleaning, maintaining, and repairing catch basins and stormwater infrastructure.
• Safely operating a variety of equipment, machinery, and hand tools.
• Installing, repairing, and maintaining street signs and traffic control devices.
• Performing flagger duties to ensure safe traffic control during roadway and utility work.
• Assisting with the annual commissioning and decommissioning of the public swimming pool.
• Performing winter maintenance operations, including snowplowing, applying salt and anti-skid materials to Borough streets, and clearing sidewalks on Borough-owned properties.
• Supporting Borough facilities and infrastructure as needed. Employees are expected to perform a broad range of public works duties while prioritizing safety, efficiency, and quality service to the community.
